"Essay & Oratorical Contest
Awards Luncheon"

To be held at noon May 2, 2007 at the Omni Hotel

The Downtown Detroit Optimist Club will hold an awards luncheon on May 2, 2007 for all winners of the Essay and Oratorical Contest. Medals and Savings Bonds will be handed out at this Recognition Celebration. The Essay winner, Carlee Andrea Floyd, will now compete in the Michigan District Essay Contest representing our Club. The Michigan District Winner will be chosen in late April and the winner will compete in the Nation Optimist Essay contest.



"Optimist ORATORICAL Contest"
To be held at noon March 21, 2007 at the Omni Hotel

This Years topic is: "My Biggest Challenge is……"

Jason Fligger the Chairperson of this event, reports that there will be
3 boys and 3 girls from Holbrook Elementary School in Hamtramck, MI.

These participants will be the winners of a prior in-school runoff contest
involving approximately 18 students who have been preparing for the contest
since mid October 2006. Ms. Rahiel Housey, a teacher at Holbrook Elementary
has been volunteering her time after school to work with these students.
